My interview at Candid Syndrome

Candid Syndrome HQ – 17 December 2009, 1.30 pm

Last 4 Dec 2009, there was this advert at Saiful Nang’s fan page on apprenticeship. So I thought I’d just try my luck and see if I’m candid syndrome material or otherwise. To my suprise, last Tuesday 15 Dec 2009, I receive a call from a fellow CS staff Salha confirming my interview with the man himself at 2pm at their HQ office in Puchong.

From then onwards, it has been just talks about CS from the office  till I reach home (even on the bed while waiting to dozz off.. funny huh). Of course Shasha was the one who’s very excited bout the whole thing. And we’ve been talking about it ever since I first got the call.

Well to cut things short, I finally reached CS HQ at Puchong on the 17 Dec 2009, Thursday at 1.30 pm. My interview suppose to start at 2 pm. Better be early than keeping the man waiting. The office setup was nice with their fine pictures hung everywhere. Sad it didn’t bring my camera to snap few photos and put them here in the blog. Well, maybe next time if there’s anymore meet up with CS (lets hope so hehehe)

The interview started at about 2.20 pm as the boss; En Saiful Nang, wanted to make sure that those that were called up for today’s interview show up. Exactly at 2.20 pm, we all went into his office along with Mashelmy, Khairul Hazwan and Fuad Topa. All of them started of as an apprentice and they went all the way right to being junior / senior photographers of CS. Inspiration I would say..

Then the man; Saiful Nang, came into the room and we all started to chat. He’s a relax, down to earth and fun gentleman I would say. Being in the same room and interacting with him is like 1 of my dreams come true. To have these wonderful people to go into my humble blog, reading the texts I’ve wrote and looking at the pictures I took and later concluding that “hey.. this guy might be something, lets give him a try” is an accomplishment to me already. At least 1 level up than before. Alhamdulillah.. praise to the almighty.

We all talk bout our experience, what drive us in photography especially weddings and why CS and not any other company. When given the chance, I poured my heart out on this one. And there’s no holding back. I certainly hope its not too much of my babbling =)

Tried to post up a 15 sec video of me and the man; En Saiful Nang – but YouTube is giving me problem. I’ll post it up once problem’s gone. For the mean time,  I’ve made it this far.

Majlis Pertunangan Siti Hajar Taib

28 November 2009, Teluk Panglima Garang – Klang Selangor.

Hari ni anak Pak Taib bertunang. Siti ni kira pangkat sepupu Shasha. So we’re family. Kita orang sampai kat rumah Pak Taib few minutes before Asar. Majlis ikutkan perancangan dilaksanakan selepas solat Isya’. Nak pendek cerita, rombongan tiba lepas Isya’ and semuanya berjalan seperti yang dirancangkan. Alhamdulillah, Siti sekarang dah jadi tunangan orang. Dengar kata tunang Siti ni seorang cikgu mengajar di Sabah.

Nadia & Fazri – Pre Wedding

Adik aku Fazri tak lama lagi nak jadi suami orang. Sepanjang hidup aku dengan adik beradik, jarang sekali aku buat sesuatu untuk adik beradik aku. Maybe some small stuff tu ada la, but its unusual for me to always do something with my brothers. Selalunya adik-adik lelaki aku (Fazri and Fazir) yang buat plan sesama dia orang. Aku normally will do my own plans. Lone ranger la katakan.

But since Fazri is getting married, aku rasa I have to do something for him as token from a bother. Jadi last Saturday, the entire gang (adik beradik aku la and our loved ones) went down to Bukit Cherakah which is now known as Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam (yang nyaris-nyaris nak dijadikan kawasan perumahan dulu by you know wh0?? – kalau tak kenal, lepas result PRU-12, cuba tengok kat tepi jalan ada sorang ni yang berambut putih,  perasan handsome and pegang penyapu jalan-jalan kat area Shah Alam. go figure.. ahahahaha)

Ok, back to the original story. Nadia adalah gadis periang pilihan adik aku. Mana dia jumpa? Dont ask me.. I’m lousy with all this sort of details. Alhamdulillah adik dah bertemu jodoh. The shoot went absolutely well despite having my kids present at the location. Dasyat beb, amik gambar sambil bawak budak2 kecik. Not a very easy thing to do, but we manage. Our Jamal and Amelina was also adaptable to the situation – ye la dah anak sedara sendiri!! akakaka

Shuhada & Fahmi

Gombak Setia, 21 & 22 November 2009

After the success of attending the Photo Camp 2009, aku contact Muazam (aka Black) and Zaharuddin (aka Zahack) from Clairvoyant Pixel just nak check samada I can tag along with them on their up coming wedding photo job. And I was lucky cause they have 1 ont the 21st and 22nd. Alhamdulillah, Black agreed to have me onboard for their shoot the entire event.

At first it was just me cause the other guy (Imzar, also a Central Alpha Legion) couldn’t make it sebab ada job yang he needs to attend to. Dasyat la dia orang ni. Wedding / Other photo job sana sini. Aku jugak yang asyik nak belajar je dulu.. Hmm maybe soon I’ll get them rolling in. Insyallah.

After 2 days of shoot, to my suprise 90% of my shots went great! So these are the best of the best. Check it out! =)

Photo Camp 2009 – Putrajaya

Macam mana aku boleh ada kat sini? Semuanya disebabkan oleh Shasha yang saw the news paper advert bulan Oktober 2009 lepas. Bila dia nampak advert tu, terus dia call and inform yang aku patut daftar untuk kursus ni. Duit boleh cari tapi ilmu bukan senang orang nak bagi. Aku pun apa lagi, terus call pihak pengurusan and get myself registered.

Sampai je hari tu, dekat 80 orang turn up for the camp. Memang ramai (tell me about it). Aku jumpa few SonyAlpha kaki’s kat sana – Dane Ahmad, Jasri Samad, Mohd Sanusi and also use to be SonyAlpha kaki like Megat and Fahmi both from Negeri Sembilan.

Our teacher was mainly from Applemint Studio – Firmansyah, Zulhisham and Mohd Hafiz. These guys really teach us alot. Alhamdulillah, aku dapat faham mesej-mesej yang disampaikan oleh tenaga pengajar during the first briefing. Lepas tu semuanya praktikal. Kesimpulannya, 20% teori and 80% praktikal. We did a staged akad nikah, sanding and outdoor shoot and it was really something! Having 80 photographers shooting 1 couple is like simulating the real wedding whereby you need to fight for your shot with “relatives” and “friends” in an actual wedding. Yes it was really a good learning experience for me.

My very own next top model photoshoot

Sorry kalau tajuk posting ini tak selari dengan bahasa yang digunakan pada text ni. Bak kata kumpulan Sepah – realiti tv Raja Lawak ” Cakap bahasa melayu pun teragak-agak, nak cakap omputih”.. So aku rojak kan aje.

Sepatutnya sabtu lepas aku nak bawak anak-anak dan Shasha pegi ke taman tasek Shah Alam for a photoshoot with my newly acquired 70200 2.8 gun. Tapi disebabkan ada 1 kemalangan menyebabkan Viva kami rosak, aktiviti tersebut terpaksa la ditunda ke-esokkan hari nya. So nak jadi cerita, patut keluar rumah pagi Ahad tu nak kejarkan the lighting. Tapi sebab dah hari Ahad and semua took their own sweet time to get things done, we all end up doing the photoshoot belah petang.

Nak jadi cerita lagi, dalam pukul 5 ptg baru kita org start shooting pasal tau la budak-budak ni. Ada je benda nak kena buat. Exactly 5 pm baru la kita orang start beraksi. Tumpuan lebih kepada kakak Aisya. So here are the photos. Enjoys.

Outdoor Photoshoot with Udey Ismail & Mukhriz Latif of CS.

Udey & Mukhriz telah menganjurkan 1 outdoor photoshoot untuk para rakan di facebook. Luckily for me, I am 1 of them.  Semua diminta hadir di dataran berhadapan dengan masjid putrajaya (berhampiran Souq area). Oleh kerana ini bukan alpha outing, aku agak malu-malu sebab mmg tak kenal everybody there accept for the speakers. Tapi alhamdulillah, aku sampai 5 minit sebelum cikgu Udey aku sampai.

Ramai juga yang datang that day. Both guys and girls ada. Yang bawak anak2 pun ada. Aku tabik la dia org ni. Both husband and wife have great passion to photography. Anak2 pulak sedang cantik jadi model. Bila fikir-fikir balik, aku – shasha, aisya and aiman pun lebih kurang sama jugak. Cuma aku tak bawak all of them sebab nak move freely sikit this time.

Both Mukhriz and Udey ada bagi taklimat pembukaan sebelum semua bergerak bersama-sama untuk cari spot yang sesuai untuk amik gambar. Kebetulan, both of them also brought 1 model named Sallester of which I have grown to know more and more after the shoot. She’s 1 talented model thats for sure.

Kami bergerak dari 1 lokasi ke 1 lokasi lain mencari latar belakang yang sesuai & juga pencahayaan yang baik untuk gambar2 kami. It was fun and both Udey and Mukhriz is very helpful. Kami semua bersurai dalam pukul 2 petang. Most of them stayed back for lunch dengan para cikgu, tapi aku memang banyak kelainan. Had to go back sebab ada few open houses yang orang jemput. Jadi mesti la datang.  =)
